Grant Proposals: Nuts & Bolts for Social Sciences Faculty

Securing external funding is a critical step in any research career. Preparing a competitive funding application goes beyond writing a clear and compelling proposal for your research project; it also requires finding and selecting the right funding opportunity, developing supplementary documents in a proposal package, and routing a proposal through WSU’s internal system prior to submission.

The goal of this training program is to prepare faculty in the social sciences to advance their careers and research at WSU by providing understanding of each step of the proposal preparation process: from identifying the right funding opportunity to submitting the proposal.

Join research development specialist Cheryl Dykstra-Aiello, PhD from the Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships (ORAP) for this grant-writing program. The workshops will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00am – 12:00pm, May 14 – May 23, in four 2-hour sessions held in CUE 114 on the Pullman campus and via Zoom for faculty at other campuses.

Deadline to Apply: May 1, 2024

Participants who complete the program will be able to:

  2. Interpret a grant proposal solicitation.
  3. Outline and draft a proposal narrative.
